Paul Mabin is no stranger to the professional music industry. His first introduction to becoming professional studio singer/solo artist was during his childhood at 11 years young in 1977 under Grammy Award-winning writer and Stax producer Don Davis. Paul and his brother were being developed as a youth duo act under an RCA distributed Detroit-based record label Tortoise International. This project continued for 3 years and was never completed. Paul and his siblings were then taken under the mentorship of Ron Banks who was a member of the American soul Stax/Volt Records music vocal group, The Dramatics. Paul and his siblings continued to work under Ron’s mentorship working on original material that would later draw the attention of Motown Records Executive Producer Tony Jones.
Paul Mabin continued to write and perform his music while attending Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mi. He studied Communications while also singing in the WMU School of Vocal Jazz. He was recruited under a scholarship to sing with Gold Company 1. While at WMU he also was Awarded Collegiate Grammy for Performance/Original Composition in the first annual NARAS Student Music Awards by the National Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences, Inc. for Outstanding Achievement in the category of Popular/Contemporary "Keep Movin' On".
After graduating, Paul moved to Chicago, IL in 1992 to pursue a music career and made a living forming and singing with the a cappella group The Sound from 1992-1998. With The Sound he toured and shared the stage with The Beach Boys, Al Green, Chubby Checker and many other renowned artists. He then went on hiatus from The Sound to sing as a back up singer for Grammy Award Winning artist Seal on his Human Being tour. He then returned to Chicago singing on several national radio and tv jingles such as Kraft "Cheese Channel", KMart "Get Down KMart", Celebrex, McDonald's, Subway, Kelloggs Fruitloops, Nintendo, Super Mario Sunshine and many others while also working as a session singer singing backup vocals with artists such as R. Kelly and Brian Culbertson.
